There are so many studies out there telling us how we can have better sex. Some suggest getting kinky in the bedroom, while others suggest that things like spending longer on foreplay could help. Well it seems that there is one simple thing you can do to enjoy better sex.

No, it doesn’t require you to work your way through the Kama Sutra. In fact it is something that you are already doing in bed… you just need to do more of it. Scientists believe that you can have better sex if you just get some more sleep. But why would this help?

It turns out that there is a strong link between sex and sleep. If you want to have amazing sex, you need to get more sleep. I don’t know about you but personally I’m happy with any excuse to stay in bed a little longer!

But it seems that there is a little bit of science behind this link between sleep and sex. A recent study has found that better sleep can lead to better sex. In the study they spoke to women over the age of 50 and discovered that those getting less than seven hours of sleep each night were less sexually active than those who enjoyed more sleep.

Further research has also suggested that those with sleep disorders, such as insomnia or sleep apnea, have decreased sexual activity. This is particularly noticeable in men, as they produce lower levels of testosterone and report higher rates of sexual dysfunction.

When we say that there is a strong link between sex and sleep, we don’t just mean that you should spend longer in bed sleeping in order to have the best sex. It seems that the reverse is also true. The more sleep you have, the better your sex life will be.

One study in particular decided to look at college students to see just how satisfying their sex life was when they had more sleep.

The results were amazing. The researchers found that, for every extra hour the students had in bed, the higher they rated their sexual desire and satisfaction. Not only that, but they also found better lubrication for sex!

Do you spend enough time in bed?

Most of us just don’t spend enough time in bed. We’ll stay up too late watching a movie or our favourite TV show, and when we do go to sleep the amount of time we have spent in front of a screen means that we just don’t get a good quality of sleep.

This has a knock on effect. Our sex life starts to suffer. However, science tells us that the best way to fix it is to spend a little longer in bed. Do you think you spend enough time in bed? Are you willing to make the change to improve your sex life?
