An amateur pornographic video involving one or more celebrity status individuals which has unintentionally, or intentionally been made public is what is known as a celebrity sex tape. Red Light District Video, the very same company that distributed Paris Hilton’s sex tape also distributed Laurrer’s tape: ‘One night in China.” Yet, the tape wasn’t as well received as she had hoped, it did propel her to land a spot on VH1’s “The Surreal Life” as well as “The Surreal Life: Fame Games,” and “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.”
2. FARRAH ABRAHAM

3. KIM KARDASHIAN
The woman who once organized the closet of Paris Hilton, is now more of a star than Hilton herself, because of a big break she got from a 2007 sex tape with artist Ray J. Sure, she went through the motions of acting grief stricken from it being leaked. She filed a lawsuit and cried all about it on her show, “Keeping up with the Kardashians.” But truth be told, she would have never become a household name without that sex tape. She settled for a cool $5 million and her family is reportedly to have made a whopping $65 million from her sex tape leak, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
4. PAMELA ANDERSON
Everyone knows her as the “Baywatch” beauty and she had an iconic career until a sex tape with ex-husband Tommy Lee was stolen from their home in 1995. Both Anderson and Lee were huge stars, but the controversy surrounding the tape knock them out of the limelight. Pamela went on to make a second sex tape with the lead singer of Poison, Brett Michaels a few years later because um, once you pop, you can’t stop.
5. TILA TEQUILA
Nothing to see here but another reality TV star that wanted to boost her career with a sex tape. Why is she famous again? Oh yeah, she became popular on MySpace and later went on to become ‘Playboy’s Cyber Girl of the Week’ and a ‘Cyber Girl of the Month’. With her rise to fame, MTV offered her a show titled, “A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila” in 2007. She apparently was not satisfied with her time in the limelight, and went on in 2011 to tape herself engaged in sexual acts with two porn actresses. It didn’t do much to help her career, although she did appear on “Celebrity Big Brother.”
6. PARIS HILTON
The hotel heiress in 2004, starred in a gritty night vision video called, One Night in Paris. It conveniently was released right before her reality series took off. Some say that sex tape helped make her stint on “The Simple Life” one of the network’s most popular shows of the season, and it’s said to be the most successful celebrity sex tape ever. Paris and her then boyfriend Rick Salomon, filmed themselves getting frisky, proving that filming yourself rolling around naked with someone can make you insanely rich and famous, even if your daddy was already insanely rich and famous.
7. KATIE PRICE AND DANE BOWERS
She’s an English television personality and model, and he’s an English singer, but they didn’t let their talent stop there. Rather they went on to make a sex tape, but it was stolen from their flat in 1999, and released onto the Internet.
8. COLIN FARRELL
In 2003, the 37-year-old actor starred in a sex tape with Playboy model, Nicole Narain. She recorded the actor and her doing it wild in 2006. Once she shopped it around after their split, he sued her for releasing the 14 minute tape. The actor’s career however was not blemished, although he told Elle magazine that the whole thing was “horrifying.”
