Who else has whiled away hours on pointless online personality tests when they are bored? We want to know more about our personalities, and so we’ll turn to online tests to find out. It’s a bizarre way of doing things, but a popular one.
One of the most popular tests online revolves around the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. It works on the theory that you fit one of 16 different personality types, based on mind, energy, nature, and tactics. A recent survey suggests that your personality type from this test could reveal a lot of your sexual preferences.
Your MBTI
Your Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (often shortened to MBTI) is supposed to tell you a lot about yourself. As mentioned earlier, it takes into account four main factors. It looks at the mind, which is how you interact with your surroundings. Another factor is your energy, which is how you see the world and therefore process information.
Nature focuses on our decision making and how we cope with emotions. The fourth and final aspect is tactics, which looks at our approach to work and planning. Combined, they make your personality type. There are 16 different ones you could be, and if you are curious about yours, 16 Personalities has a free test for you to take.
Many feel that their MBTI matches them perfectly. However, a recent survey by Superdrug has suggested that your personality type could also reflect your sexual preferences. Take the test, find out your personality type, and then see what it might suggest about your sexual preferences below!
ISTJ – the Logistician
According to Superdrug’s survey, ISTJ types are the least likely to vocalise what they want in bed. This is reflected in how satisfied they are with sex. 63% believed that they were sexually satisfied, which is the third lowest out of all of the personality types. Yikes!
64% of them felt that they were adventurous when it comes to sex. This put them fourth from the bottom, which is reflected in their favourite sex position. Spooning is a favourite for ISTJ, which matches what they said about feeling adventurous.
INFJ – the Advocate
Next up is INFJ. According to the brief summary provided by Superdrug, they are the ones who masturbate the least often. They are 63% satisfied with sex, putting them in the bottom of the board with ISTJ.
They also come second from the bottom on the “sexually adventurous” board, with just 64% of them saying they were adventurous. They are lovers of the missionary position, but surprisingly they seem eager to try same-sex relations.
INTJ – the Architect
When it comes to summarising the Architect type, we are told that their favourite position is doggy… which doesn’t really narrow things down. It’s typically a favourite for most people, so we shouldn’t be surprised that INTJs are 66% adventurous.
Unfortunately, they are just 63% satisfied. That said, not only do they love doggy style but they also love the cowgirl position. They do say that variety is the spice of life!
ISTP – the Virtuoso
Out of all of the introverts on the list, it is ISTP and one other who get lengthier summaries. They are described as most willing to have a threesome, though they also have strong preferences for being controlled. Submission is their deal.
Despite this, only 64% felt that they were adventurous. Clearly, whatever they are doing is paying off, as they are the highest ranking introverts in terms of sexual satisfaction with 75%! They are one of the most likely groups to try role-play, so I think that they are more adventurous than they give themselves credit for.
INFP – the Mediator
The other introverts with a longer summary are the INFPs. We are told that they are the most difficult to satisfy in bed, and that they are also the most likely to be mistaken about their sexual preferences. With only 60% of them sexually satisfied, putting them at the very bottom of the list, it seems that this is definitely true.
66% of them feel that they are adventurous when it comes to sex, which is shown by the fact that they are likely to engage with someone of the same gender. It seems that INFPs need to speak up more to get the sex they want.
INTP – the Logician
If you are the Logician type, you are most likely to have the lowest number of sexual partners on average. However, only 60% of you are sexually satisfied. Why? I’m not entirely sure.
That said, you are also the second most adventurous of the introverts, with 67% saying they were willing to try new things. This is reflected in how willing you are to do certain things. You’d like to have threesomes, try bondage, try anal, and enjoy a little role-play!
ISFJ – the Defender
Described as the least adventurous in bed, the ISFJ personality type might be feeling a little disheartened right about now. Just 63% felt that they were willing to try new things, but what else can we learn about them?
They were also 63% sexually satisfied, probably because they’ve got missionary down. The traditional missionary position is their favourite, so perhaps they could spice things up by trying a different style?
ISFP – the Adventurer
The last of the introverts on this list are the ISFPs. Known as the Adventurers, they certainly fit their title, as they are the most adventurous out of all of the introverts. They are also the second most satisfied at 71%.
That said, they are described as the second most likely to be mistaken about their sexual preferences. They have a love of anal and of the 69 position. This is where being adventurous pays off for them!
ENFJ – the Protagonist
Now it is the turn of the extroverts. First up is the ENFJs, otherwise known as the Protagonists. They are apparently the most willing to use toys in the bedroom. They are 72% sexually adventurous, and 76% satisfied by the sex that they are having.
Their willingness to experiment with toys is reflected in the fact that they are one of the groups most likely to try bondage. It seems that whipping out the handcuffs is something they are eager to try.
ESFJ – the Consul
While you might think that threesomes are the fantasy for everyone, ESFJs argue otherwise. They are the least willing to try threesomes or anal, and unsurprisingly they are the least adventurous of the extroverts at just 69%.
That said, they are 71% satisfied by the sex that they are having. This might be because their favourite position is doggy style. It hits all of the sweet spots, so maybe ESFJs aren’t adventurous because they already know what works for them.
ESFP – the Entertainer
ESFPs are known as the Entertainers, but according to Superdrug they are the least willing to experiment with the same gender. That said, they are one of the most adventurous groups, with 77% eager to explore, and they are relatively satisfied with their sex lives at 72%.
Their adventurous nature comes through mainly in the positions they like to try. Doggy style is their absolute favourite sex position, but they might also be tempted by spooning as well as reverse cowgirl.
ENFP – the Campaigner
Next up are the Campaigners, or the ENFPs. They are the best group out of the lot, and I am saying this as an entirely biased ENFP myself. We are apparently the most willing to experiment with the same gender, which is definitely true for me. I’ve already written about my experiences in the past!
Unfortunately, ENFPs are only 71% adventurous and 72% satisfied with sex. That figure is a bit of a let down for me, but hey. At least we’re willing to try role-play! We also seem to love spooning.
ESTP – the Entrepreneur
ESTPs might be known as Entrepreneurs, but they are apparently the least willing to try toys. They might not want to try toys, but they are the second most adventurous of the types, with 79% claiming this trait for their own.
They are 76% satisfied with their sex lives at present, and they are also the least likely to be mistaken about their sexual preferences. They like the idea of a threesome and are happy to try anal, just without any toys involved. The positions most loved by them are 69, missionary, and reverse cowgirl. Quite a mix!
ESTJ – the Executive
Want to know which personality type is the most likely to have slept with many people? It’s the ESTJs. The Executives are described as having the highest number of sexual partners on average, and they are also the most satisfied in bed at 81%. Whether those two facts go hand in hand isn’t clear. You make your own assumptions on that one.
ESTJs are 73% adventurous with the sex they are having, probably because they are willing to do a lot. Try threesomes? Sure. Have a same-sex relationship? Why not. Engage in some role-play? Definitely. If you were to ask for a favourite position, many of them would say that 69 is the one for them.
ENTJ – the Commander
ENTJs are known as the Commanders, so we shouldn’t be surprised that they are described as the personality type to most strongly prefer to be in control in bed. They are also pretty adventurous, with 84% eager to try new things. In fact, they are the most likely to use sex toys, try role-play, and participate in bondage. They also are happy to try anal sex and have a same-sex relationship.
They claim a sexual satisfaction of 80%, making them the second highest on the list. Of their favourite positions, however, they seem to have a preference for the woman being on top. Both the cowgirl and the reverse cowgirl position did it for them. Perhaps this reflects their take-charge attitude?
ENTP – the Debater
At last, we reach the final personality type. ENTPs are better known as the Debaters. They are fairly adventurous, with 74% describing themselves as such. Maybe this is why they are the most likely to try anal. However, they are the least satisfied of the extroverts when it comes to sex!
They are happy to try threesomes and bondage, although these experiences might not satisfy them. They also seem to love fast and hard sex, as they rate cowgirl and doggy style as their favourite positions to try.
Does your personality type match?
Taking a look at my personality type and the things that it says about me, I’m tempted to say that it is about half right. I’m a big fan of role-play, but spooning isn’t such a big deal for me. I do love experimenting with members of the same-sex, and I’m very satisfied with my sex life. But that’s just me. What about you?
