Being inherently lazy, it’s seldom I feel compelled to write, well … anything really. Let alone a book review. But Fishnet, the debut novel of Kirstin Innes caused removal of The Cat from my keyboard at just slightly excessive speed. Continue reading Laura Lee Blog – Fishnet, A Book Review

The Laura Lee Blog | Au Revoir!
Sometimes, in my line of work as in many others, rude clients float to the surface. I should say that the most awful clients I ever experienced were in banking, because when you’re dealing with people and money, greed comes before all else. Suddenly the bank charges they incurred were my fault, personally. Like I took their money and spent it on caviar. Or call girls. Allegedly. Continue reading The Laura Lee Blog | Au Revoir!
Laura Lee Blog | Funding With a Capital F
Those of you who follow me on Twitter or have met me even once will know my favourite bug bear when it comes to sex workers’ “rescue” organisations is funding. Thousands upon thousands of pounds/Euros are poured into these organisations to “raise awareness”. It really annoys me, when you have women in Dublin in direct provision on nineteen Euros a week selling sex as a survival strategy and NGO’s swanning around in BMW’s, loudly declaring their dedication to help those poor, fallen women. 25% of Students Have Considered Sex Work!
I woke up this morning with a stinging headache. I had spent the evening watching ‘The Battle for Number Ten’, and maybe due to the surprise of Ed Miliband looking a top quality politician, I had sunk a bottle of red wine. Continue reading 25% of Students Have Considered Sex Work!
Laura Lee To Legally Challenge Sex Work Ban!
Sex worker Laura Lee is more than just a sexy lady. She’s incredibly intelligent and is using her smarts to fight for the rights of sex workers. A Laura Lee Speech to the UKNSWP Conference on Criminalisation
On Monday 2nd of March, I was invited to speak at the UKNSWP conference in Manchester. Although I was honoured to be asked, to put it bluntly, I was planking it. I felt out of my comfort zone in that I had hoped there would be some antis to shout at, but it wasn’t that kind of event. The atmosphere was wonderful, one of warm support and a feeling that the whole room was working towards a safer environment for sex workers. I met some amazing police and networked my heart out, making lots of new friends and allies. So, here’s my speech. I did ad lib at certain points so it may not be spot on, but I’ll try and recall as best I can. Continue reading A Laura Lee Speech to the UKNSWP Conference on Criminalisation
California Lawsuit Could Decriminalise Prostitution!
We all know what the best solution is to make the sex industry safer, and it isn’t criminalising the client. Criminalisation pushes the industry underground and makes it much more dangerous for sex workers. What we should be doing is decriminalising it and accepting the fact that sex work is real work. Continue reading California Lawsuit Could Decriminalise Prostitution!
Free Handjobs From Taiwanese Charity!
Yes, you read the title correctly. There is a charity in Taiwan that has collected together their skills to give away handjobs to those who are worthy. It might sound odd, but it is actually for a pretty good cause. Continue reading Free Handjobs From Taiwanese Charity!
Workers Offered Night With Porn Star As Bonus!
Work bonuses are either hit or miss. We’ve all been in jobs where their idea of a bonus is letting you have those days off that you are entitled to anyway. “Gee, thanks,” you think, but smile and get on with it because it’s work. Continue reading Workers Offered Night With Porn Star As Bonus!
It’s Not Like ‘Pretty Woman’
It wasn’t long ago that I saw the film ‘Pretty Woman’ for the first time. I had just started working on the Escort Ireland forums as a moderator when one of my friends invited me to hers for a girlie night of drinks, movies, and rude sex talk. Continue reading It’s Not Like ‘Pretty Woman’
