A dip in your sex drive is something that can happen to anyone, and while it is perfectly normal it can still make you question yourself and what has happened. Often, people who suffer from a low sexual desire feel that something is very wrong with them and that there is nothing they can do.

However, there are some ways that you can help to boost your sex drive. We’ve put together three great tips to boost your sexual desire.

1) Use your other senses

Far too often we rely on our sight to tell us how we should feel and react to things, when our other senses can be extremely useful. Things like sound, smell, taste and touch should not be forgotten, and using them in the bedroom can be a great help.

In order to fully utilise these sense, you should start by thinking of the different sexy things you can do with each one. It can also help to blindfold you or your partner to make things more exciting.

For sound, try to choose some soft music to help get you in the mood. Even putting the music on while you dance for yourself or your partner can help, and you will start to anticipate what might happen next.

Smell can be a tricky one to get right. Candles can be a good way to use your sense of smell to make things more exciting, however choosing too strong a scent can be off putting. Instead, choose gentle smells to add to the mood instead of overpowering it.

As for taste, this is one of the easier senses to involve in the bedroom. Take food in there, such as berries and small pieces of chocolate, to feed to each other. The blindfold will be particularly useful here, as you can feed them a piece before putting a second in your mouth and passing it to them that way. Be careful with the food you choose, though. Avoid sticky and messy food!

Touch can be done with gentle strokes all over the body, and the blindfold can help because they won’t be able to see where you are going to touch them. The anticipation will help you both get turned on and excited.

2) Feel sexy again

One of the big problems many people face is that they simply don’t feel sexy anymore… and how do you change what you think about yourself?

It might not be easy, but it can be done. The key? Stop doing too much.
We have all done it. We take on too many responsibilities and have so many things to do that our relationships and sex end up going further down the ladder of priorities. However, we can change that.

Set yourself a schedule during the week of when you are going to complete different tasks. More often than not you will find gaps in your week where you can be doing something else, such as getting to know yourself better.

Take the time to really get to know yourself again and to make you feel sexier, whether that is wearing new sexy lingerie or taking a long and relaxing bath. It can really make a difference.

3) Make your heart skip a beat

When you’re having sex, you begin to sweat and your heart beats faster to accommodate this fun activity. Your body spurs you on to enjoy yourself, and afterwards you collapse on the bed feeling exhausted but it was totally worth it.

Getting your heart beating that little bit faster is another good way of bringing your libido back up.

You can try taking more brisk walks around your neighbourhood, no matter how short, to get your heart pumping. Even attending a regular exercise class with others can be a good way to continually raise your sex drive.

If you and your partner are both experiencing a slump, talk about exercises you can do together. Go hiking or take your bikes along the river. You could join a dance class together! It doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you have fun while doing it.
