What Do You Do if an Escort is Drunk or High?

For the most part, the escort industry is a good place. Consenting adults get together and what happens is between them. Far from being the world of traffickers and pimps, the vast majority of sex workers are happy and enjoy spreading happiness.

Still, it isn’t all sweetness and light. On occasion, there will be sex workers who a drunk or high when you turn up for a meeting. The question is, what should you do in this situation?

Be Aware

Firstly let me say that that an escort being out of it isn’t always a sign that something is wrong. I don’t know about you but I have been for a couple of drinks at lunch before, come back to work, and not realised how hard it has hit me. The same thing can happen to sex workers, who lets remember, are just normal people.

Still, there is also a chance that it does signify something worse. It could be that they hate their job and are using substances to self medicate. If the only way they can get through the day is by being bladdered then that isn’t a good thing.

One question we often get asked is that of alcohol and consent, namely where it becomes a legal matter. There are often scare stories that ‘drunk consent isn’t consent’. The idea being that if someone is drunk they are not of sound mind so therefore their decision to have sex is invalidated, so it is rape. Well, it is fair to say that is nonsense.

If that was the case, then the courts would be full up with thousands of cases every week with people regretting their actions because they has knocked back a few too many shots in a club and slept with someone who looked better when they were pissed.

The law is more concerned if you are INCAPABLE of making a decision, as in you are passed out, or near passed out. However, that doesn’t mean having sex with drunk escorts is a good idea.

There is a difference between legal and moral. It is immoral to have sex with an escort under the influence because they may be doing it because they are miserable.

Turn and Walk Away

It is therefore a good idea to do an about turn and walk out without paying your cash. How far you take it will depend on the individual. You may be more confident than not that she has just had too many ales at dinner and may need to sleep it off. If the demeanour is really negative, that may well lead you to report her to anti-trafficking organisations. This would give them an opportunity to have a look. They may find nothing and you may have your conclusion wrong, but it beats just walking out of the place and thinking it is someone’s else’s problem.

But Martin, isn’t seeing an escort illegal over here? May I get myself into trouble by reporting?

Well, no. The reports are made anonymously, and anti-trafficking groups are there to help escorts. They won’t do themselves any favours by ratting out concerned clients.

Finally, let me repeat that that this is a rare occurrence. It is the fact that it is rare that made me write this. If it happened all the time people would know what to do. The fact it rarely happens will lead those affected in a spin maybe not knowing how to act.
