Rolf Harris Charged with Three More Sex Offences

Tv Presenter Rolf Harris has been charged with an additional three sex offences as part of an ongoing investigation into the 83 year old Aussie entertainer.

Harris is already facing 13 charges- four counts of possessing indecent images of children, and nine of indecent assault involving two girls aged 14 and 15.

The latest charges include allegations of indecent assault against a child who was seven or eight during the 60’s, and another girl of 14 during the 70’s. A third and final charge relates to an existing complainant, who was 19 when she was allegedly assaulted in 1985.

Harris is due to appear at Southwark crown court in South East London on January 14th where he will enter a plea.

Rolf Harris has gained a reputation as one of the nations most loved performers. Seemingly a kindly fellow who was brilliant at drawing cartoon characters, as well as having a successful music career, he really did come across as the perfect Grandfather. In 2005 he was chosen to do a portrait of the Queen and also appeared at her Jubilee in 2012.

Though being charged is certainly not a sign of guilt (anyone calling Rolf Harris a ‘paedo’ without ever hearing the evidence is an idiot) this has to be one of the saddest stories of the last few years.

A Sad Tale

Jimmy Savile always looked like a creepy eccentric, with many sections of the nation struggled to warm to him, despite his celebrity. Bill Roache (who plays Ken Barlow in Corrie) has for a long time been regarded as a difficult man to get on with by people who know him. This is not to say that they are guilty of any allegations, it is just that people are not horrified that THEY SPECIFICALLY have been charged as they never really captured the nations hearts.

Rolf Harris is different kettle of fish. Everybody loves Rolf, young and old. That is why there is such sadness attached to the case as a whole.

I have no idea how this case will end up. You just want justice to be done either way.

Still, I feel like a part of my childhood is slowly dying.
