A Danish photographer has caused uproar after he seemingly picturing himself having sex on top of the Great Pyramid in Egypt.

Andreas Hvid posted the explicit snap on his website, and also featured it on a Youtube video.

Bad Reaction

Well, unsurprisingly Egyptian authorities have found it less than funny and are now investigating the incident.

The video, which has now been removed by Hvid, was posted on Sunday. Accompanying it, he wrote;

“In late November 2018, a friend and I climbed the Great Pyramid of Giza (a.k.a. Pyramid of Khufu, Pyramid of Cheops).

“Fearing to be spotted by the many guards, I did not film the several hours of sneaking around at the Giza Plateau, which lead up to the climb.”

Climbing above a certain level of the pyramid in the mostly Muslim country is forbidden, and the entire site is closed to the public after 5pm and patrolled by the police.

Well, if he was expecting good comments and a positive reaction to his naughty escapades, he had another thing coming.

One said: ‘In my opinion, the nude stuff is very disrespectful and ignorant.’

Another added: ‘Total disgrace. Total disrespect for local culture.’

‘On behalf of historians and archaeologists everywhere, I hope you both end up in jail,’ another added.

Zero Respect

I have always been a big traveller (well before I had kids and became poor), and the best part for me is that I got to immerse myself in local culture. Going out there and deliberately insulting that local culture just strikes me as the work of an asshole. I actually don’t know what the guy was thinking.

On his website, which also contains other examples of this type of ‘nude art,’ Hvid says he is ‘forever in search of beautiful locations where you cannot be.’ Yes. I like to be out at the pub when my Mrs says get home after work. I don’t feel the need to travel the world thumbing my nose at the locals and their customs.

It may have something to do with social media, and people doing outlandish things to get noticed. There seems to be nothing worse these days than being anonymous. Still, I was taught as a kid that if you are noticed for the wrong things, then that isn’t a good thing. I still stand by that today

I have to say, this was something of an epic fail in my opinion. The best he can hope for is to not end up with a jail sentence.
