Most people have heard about the Donald Sterling scandal coming out of America. That is the one where the LA Clippers basketball owner made a series of racist comments to his then girlfriend V. Stiviano, which she recorded and gave to the press.
Well, I will leave to another day the whole debate on the morality of recording personal conversations where no criminal offence is taking place. OK, I think it sounds like something that would happen in East Germany and the Soviet Union, not the ‘land of the free’. People may disagree; that is what free speech is.
The Porn Industry Gets Involved
Still, it was unsurprising that porn was going to get involved sooner rather than later, and turn the whole sleazy incident into something possibly even sleazier.
The site involved were CuckoldSessions.com, a porn website specialising in videos where white men are forced to watch their girlfriends have sex with black men.
The video features Raven Bay as Stiviano and Nina Hartley as Shelly Sterling (his wife) as they look to get even with the controversial billionaire.
Stiviano invites Sterling to a hotel to have wild sex, but instead she forces him to watch her have sex with a black basketball player.
Sterling was played by James Bartholet, who has actually appeared in TV shows like General Hospital. Good to see his career is going well.
Due to his professional background, Bartholet actually studied Sterling to see how he acts. He watched videos which featured his voice, his look and his walk. He explains.
“To be honest, the wig helped. Once I got that, I worked my way into the character. I had to make him real, three-dimensional and, I don’t want to say likeable, but tolerable.”
“There was nothing on the Internet on how he looks or sounds during sex,” Bartholet said. “So I had to figure out how he would orgasm.”
You do wonder, when Bartholet was a young up and coming actor, whether he thought it would really come down to this?
The scene’s director, Billy Watson is happy with the final product, but even he feels it doesn’t match up to the real-life events.
“This thing has been so skeevy that maybe it’s the one time when porn couldn’t make it sleazier,” he said.
On that point, I can most certainly agree with him.
A Loathing Of Racism
Despite my firmly held belief that no-one should be recording personal conversations when no criminality is involved, I do hate all kinds of racism and prejudice.
