The Victimisation of Sex Workers – Laura Lee Blog

What’s the difference between the Edinburgh pandas and sex workers? I’ve never known a sex worker yet with a penchant for chowing down on bamboo. Personally, I prefer to apply bamboo liberally to the backsides of Edinburgh’s pillars of society. The real difference is far more sinister, if a member of the public wants to view the Edinburgh pandas, they need to wait, pay and show respect. Sex workers? Lately it seems like it’s a free for all, with respect being the last thing on the voyeur’s mind. Continue reading The Victimisation of Sex Workers – Laura Lee Blog

Laura Lee – UK Parliament Calls For Sex Work Decriminalisation

This morning saw the news that the Home Affairs Select Committee have recommended decriminalisation in terms of sex workers working together for safety, the removal of the offence of soliciting and the quashing of previous convictions, thus removing barriers to exit from the industry. A Letter to You – The Laura Lee Blog

I’ve decided to write a letter to you. You may only recognise yourself in some of what I’m about to say. You may not recognise yourself at all, in which case, thank you friend. I’ve been hugely inspired by Panti Bliss and her wonderful film “Queen of Ireland” on her fight for equal marriage for the LGBT community and I want to acknowledge that. Bring it On – The Laura Lee Blog

See, here’s the thing.

We Irish folk are very friendly. We just are. We’re also very self-deprecating, no-one comes close to us when it comes to taking the mick out of ourselves. Given the current state of Irish politics, it’s just as well really. Laugh or be damned. It’s that or a one way ticket to the Home for the Bewildered. Continue reading Bring it On – The Laura Lee Blog
