A person who pays, gives, offers or promises to pay or give a person (including a prostitute) money or any other form of remuneration or consideration for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity with a prostitute shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on summary conviction—

Money or any other form of renumeration could mean anything, doing their garden, letting them park their car in your garage and bartering your home made fire irons for sex.

You will have to go back to the 1993 sexual offences act (the act that also decriminalised homosexual acts between grown men) to get the definition of a 'prostitute'.

This is a pretty hopeless piece of legislation that is pretty much unpolicable in this country. And their is no decriminalisation of sex workers (victims of prostitution, prostituted women and girls in TORL lingo. )
