A Garda officer who arrested a prostitute, has found himself in trouble after going back later in the day to have sex with her.
The incident took place the Midlands between policeman and an eastern European sex worker. The arrest was made after more than one escort was found working from the apartment, which of course constitutes as a brothel.
A Masterplan
Well, that seems to have given our officer a great idea. Instead of going out for a drink with his colleagues to celebrate the bust, he allegedly decided to go back and get his end away.
The escort subsequently accused the officer of rape, and this story was backed up by her friend who was also working with her, who claimed she witnessed it.
The officer admitted to having ‘consensual sex’, but denied any accusation of a sex attack. He said he was off duty at the time he went back to the apartment, and was therefore fined for a breach of discipline.
The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) said that a file had been prepared by its investigators and submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions, who declined to press any charges.
Now as I haven’t read the case in the details they have, I am going to guess that the DPP thought that this was an effort at getting revenge from the escort on the guy who had arrested her earlier in the day. I will leave what actually happened for those who have a more in-depth knowledge of the case.
Stupid Beyond Belief
But come on, talk about having the brains of a rocking horse. At what point did the officer think it was a good idea to go back and have sex with the person he arrested earlier in the day? Let’s just say the story is as has been published. At best he was likely to get ratted out for visiting an escort. At worst he was going to get a false accusation of rape thrown at him. Talk about putting yourself in harms way. What an idiot.
The fact that it sounds so stupid will lead many to think that there is more to the story, though I’m not going to start slinging mud.
It does go to show what I have said for a while; there are more Garda than you think who actually want sex work to be legal and accepted. There are those who would like to see escorts themselves, and those who would much rather be dealing with real criminals who are busy burgling your house whilst the police are arresting sex workers for no real reason.
Let the Garda deal with real issues, like human trafficking. And if they want to get a bit of action, then let them. We all need to unwind after a day at work!
