    I often ask soccer fans this same question..........

    Why do they support English clubs like their life depended on it but wouldn't support their own local club or team, or any Irish soccer team or league for that matter...........

    I usually just get told to fuck off, so I've come up with my own explanation.........

    More TV coverage and a better standard of play................more enjoyable and more of a chance of being able to discuss a match that an English club had, or were about to play in, than an Irish club playing in an Irish league........

    BTW, I'm not saying all supporters of English clubs don't also support their own local club, team or league............

    I think it's just a better standard of play and more entertaining for most.............

    Better football, better pitches and as you said better tv coverage. I do watch the odd league of Ireland match but the play dosnt really excite me as the premiership, and as most of our lads do play there its only natural to support the premiership

    a friend of mine once told me....most people who follow english teams....never actually saw them play...they sit in fronth of the tv...with there jerseys ..scarfs and head bands shouting at sky sports.....he calls them ..sky sports fans....not sports fans
