    Default Following on..........

I often ask soccer fans this same question..........

Why do they support English clubs like their life depended on it but wouldn't support their own local club or team, or any Irish soccer team or league for that matter...........

I usually just get told to fuck off, so I've come up with my own explanation.........

More TV coverage and a better standard of play................more enjoyable and more of a chance of being able to discuss a match that an English club had, or were about to play in, than an Irish club playing in an Irish league........

BTW, I'm not saying all supporters of English clubs don't also support their own local club, team or league............

I think it's just a better standard of play and more entertaining for most.............

Better football, better pitches and as you said better tv coverage. I do watch the odd league of Ireland match but the play dosnt really excite me as the premiership, and as most of our lads do play there its only natural to support the premiership

Hurling is the more skilful exciting game Footie as much as I love it is really dying a death due to most matches being soooo boring & also the ridiculous amount of players feigning injuries this is killing the game of football winning & losing for most Man U supporters in Ireland too has become life or death believe me I know loads

Because GAA is a culchiefied mess of an organisation and their sports embody the worst of Irish paddywhackery.

Ding ding! Mouse opens with a kick to the balls!

Sure, the skill sets for football and hurling (in particular) are impressive. Fastest field sport in the world and all.

But you know what? I hate listening to the baying of thickly-accented half-wits who would obviously be more at home in a pit of slurry than amongst civilised people. Whip! Lash! Pull hard on de ball! Gwan lads! Over de bar! Ah sure jaysus dis is fabbilous!

And there's not a week that goes by without a newspaper reporting "FIVE THOUSAND MAN BRAWL IN BALLYARSE GAA MATCH" with a picture of grannies bateing the shite out of the referee. Football is a filthy sport - there's loose elbows, shoulders, feet and headbutts flying around all over the place. A hurley is an offensive weapon. The GAA gives no shit that most of its players are thugs - I've never seen a player banned for more than a couple of months for deliberately causing injuries to another player. Brawls involving half the fucking parish are hilarious, but scary.
