There are well defined evolutionary reasons for this, many of our social aspects developed due to a shared religious culture. This shared culture would have made our species more successful, therefore we would have bred more successfully therefore this genetic predisposition to religious experience would have survived. Still fails to make it true.

The big problem with religion is that it starts with a premise (God exists) then tries to work backwards from that to make the facts match. This is not how the world works, you look at the facts and try to construct a premise from that.

I have little doubt myself that an interventionist god does not exist. There is exactly zero evidence for it.

I wholey agree, We are a socail species and if it wasnt for our ability to form groups we would be long gone.Yes reliegon was a major factor not only in keeping us inline but alive. However in a modern era such as this do we still need it? Im sure you can argue both sides of the coin here.

As for your premise. Yes I agree but a lot of science is actually like that. Even with atomic particals. We never knew they existed but we did theorise them and we found them

I see where you're coming from but it's radically different. When you say "we did theorise them" it's not like some guy saying "Hey, I think there's a Higg's Boson cuz I read it in this book" - these particles are predicted to exist using complex mathematical models and each and every one of them, with the exceptions of the graviton and the higg's boson (come on LHC!!!), have been confirmed to exist by experiment.

I see where you're coming from but it's radically different. I know what your saying, maths proved there was something there, just like black holes that Einstein predicted. But they were only discovered when the formulas and equations were understood and the technology was developed.. Before then no one could have imagined what actually existed and no one could 100 % prove it.

As for God, who knows. We cant scientifcaly prove whether he does or doesnt exist. People theorise both sides of the coin here.
Now as for religeon pushing there views on people because they beleive the stories in a book and take everything literally, this is wrong. They may have the right idea but are going about all wrong. If there is a creator then well and good if not then well and good. It may never be proved 100 % either way
