So they are trying to push the law even harder.
There is another attempt to apply pressure to the governments south of the border to adopt similar anti-sex buyer laws.

Let's hope the law doesn't go south.

I think (and hope) this is only a "trophy law" designed to make morrow and his cronies look good to his narrow mind friends in the Evangelical Protestant Society.
Floki, draw that up as a press release and send it to all the news outlets that ran the border counties influx of escort profiles warning from Denise Charlton and the immigrant council of Ireland and see what happens

I don't think such a law would ever pass in England. It has been tried a few times and has failed. The English are not stupid or narrow-minded enough to tolerate what we tolerate in Ireland.
i think its fairly safe to say that legislation will not now be introduced in the republic
since when did the dail cow tail to an orangeman- do the dup rule all of ireland now?

It is possible the DUP and Morrow's involvement will not endear the law to Southerners. However, the Catholic Church and the Free Presbyterian Church do have a lot in common. But I think supporters of a Southern law will not find Morrow's comments helpfull to their cause.
"It remains an offence to keep or manage a brothel, but the new law removes criminality from soliciting in the street or public place."
I have not seen any remarks about this part of the law anywhere. The law does not remove criminality from any other aspect of escorting, except it seems to decriminalise outdoor sex work, after so much recent legislation designed to end it. Are they attempting to drive escorting out of (comparatively )safe indoor work to unsafe outdoor work like the bad old days?

In the ROI bill there was no reference to changing any existing prostitution law, just adding new offence of paying for sexual services and increasing punishments for paying trafficked people for sex.
This is the aspect of prostitution that IMO offends "decent" people most, as evidenced by the controversy in Limerick two years ago.
