    Default Bike or car?

I am considering learning how to drive soon finally but as im interested in motorcycles I am caught in a tough situation as a car is more conventional anyone know the difference in insurance and tax between the two? Or anyone have a motorcycle and prefer it to a car?

Tax and insurance are gonna be a lot cheaper than on a car, but your a lot safer in a car.

Some of the new low ommision cars are 0 tax to get on the road and low to insure. Where a bike can be exhilarating in the good weather, they can also be dangerous and uncomfortable to ride in the poorer weather and you will have to invest in good riding gear etc. I would also say that buying an old car and doing it up could be very costly, especially with regards to insurance.

I would advise to take your initial test in driving a car, which will allow you to ride smaller bikes and then if you can afford a second vehicle, take the bike test and get a bike then.

All depends on your situation, if you live in the city a bike is handy or if you commute they can cut your travel time down considerably but at a cost, bikes are dangerous but mainly because of car drivers, we are not taught properly how to look out for them and make stupid mistakes that can cost lives.
There have even been a few TV adverts trying to educate car drivers to be aware of there surroundings and look out for them but they make F-all difference, and yes this is coming from experience, I primarily drive a car but I also ride motorbikes regularly, especially in this good weather and it's crazy what some car drivers do, they'll let the car go by but pull out in front of the bike as if to say it's only a bike, he won't hurt, I'm bigger than him so he'll give way, bollix

I will concede that motorbike riders do seem to make crazy maneuvers also and for the most part you are correct but you need to also be aware that what might seem like a silly maneuver in a car may not be on a bike with it's increased visibility over cars and considerable extra acceleration than a car a bike can safely whizz in and out of vehicles in far shorter distances than a car can..
