I am considering learning how to drive soon finally but as im interested in motorcycles I am caught in a tough situation as a car is more conventional anyone know the difference in insurance and tax between the two? Or anyone have a motorcycle and prefer it to a car?

Tax and insurance are gonna be a lot cheaper than on a car, but your a lot safer in a car.

Some of the new low ommision cars are 0 tax to get on the road and low to insure. Where a bike can be exhilarating in the good weather, they can also be dangerous and uncomfortable to ride in the poorer weather and you will have to invest in good riding gear etc. I would also say that buying an old car and doing it up could be very costly, especially with regards to insurance.

I would advise to take your initial test in driving a car, which will allow you to ride smaller bikes and then if you can afford a second vehicle, take the bike test and get a bike then.

I'm lucky enough to have both. I started on bikes at 16 and have ridden them ever since. My car license came at 18 and was always handy for work purposes. For the last 15 years or so I have kept both. Car when it's wet and icy bike on days like today and also to beat traffic. Nothing like it. However, 6 years ago and after over 20 years of trouble free biking, a learner driver decided to do a u turn, in rush hour traffic. He didn't look. The result is a permanent disability in the form of a severly damaged leg. I've since developed the onset of arthritis in my wrist, shoulder, knee and hip, all according to doctors, as a result of the accident.
Now I'm not trying to put you off, I still own a bike and still ride it, just not as much and less if traffic is busy. I just want you to be aware that accidents do happen and you can be blameless. I've held a full bike license since I was 18, over 25 years ago. I have passed the advanced motorists test and was a trained instructor and I still had that accident.
Whatever vehicle you choose will have its good and bad points, the important thing is you pick the one thats right for you, get proper instruction and most of all, enjoy your freedom.

Yeah bikers seem to have a bad rep for the wrong reasons, its bad-ass that you got back up on the bike after your accident much respect to you thanks for the advice

I love both but I'm a big car fan I used to love bikes but I purposely blocked it out cos there so dangerous the last bike I rode was an fz900 back in 1991 it could hit 100kph in 4 seconds that's modern Ferrari speed with no protection adrinalin fueled addiction so stick with the car or maybe live life and see
