Is is normal that they have not named him.
Until he is arrested and charged he will not be named.
He would inly be named as a suspect if they were looking for him and couldnt find him.

The man in hospital is most likely deemed medically incompetent given head injury , and care is been taken not to create any legal loopholes , a process , a legal process needs to be followed .

I get the emotion but some of what is being posted here and elsewhere will not stand when calmer heads prevail. Law and justice must never be applied /driven by such emotionally energy. We live in a civilized society, at times it requires patience

I personally will wait to hear all the facts then comment

As I say some of the posts are ridiculous across various threads, leaving the EU among them , Dublin is not Gotham city . Our crime rates are actually relatively low our economy strong so immigrants are not wrecking havoc . We have a dreadful housing crisis , probably 30 years in the making

Do we need to review immigration policy .... YES but calmy intelligently not this and the Brazilian who intervened , hello balance required to get it right , much immigration is of great value to us

As to that Man up shit , protect our women and children , seriously now , our women and children are generally murdered raped by a close relative not this shit

Do we need to review Muslim issues , yes we do even though it pains me to say so , I see no condemnation of what is being done to women in Afghanistan from the Muslim community , I have daughters I will not accept any beliefs that allow women to be degraded so we need to have a debate and a way forward but not a plan based on assault and mindless rhetoric, man up , yeah right look to your own first.

Do we need to review granting of Irish Nationality after 5 years, again probably it should be staged with final rights after say 10years and no one gets it if they believe women are property and they lose it if they commit certain crimes

I get the anger but some posts across this site are pure gold to very people who started those riots

I feel for those childrens families and the teacher who got stabbed . Lets learn and with calm intelligence make it better .

    Great post, very measured.
I would oppose a couple of things but really like the way youve outlined the points, makes me think.

His facial injury came from being hit with the helmet, I'm old school and there's only one way to deal with someone like this and it ain't to spend any of the Tax payers money on him.......Tie him to a car and drive him down the road.

I detest violence against children, it's the most cowardly act someone can commit.

While in this case they have the culprit, in the Aisling Murphy case they named an innocent person whos life was ruined and could easily havw suffered the fate you think is right. What would you say then, an innocent man murdered by a mob, his family subjected to violent attacks posssibly have their home burnt out with them inside it.

Social media is a breeding ground for these thugs and where they thrive.

I would agree with practically everything you say BA , we are all hurt by Thursdays events .
It is incomprehensible how anyone could randomly target innocent children and their supervisor.
By and large I think as a country we do our best, there is no doubt our justice system needs a major overhaul.
Thursday nights events were disgusting, in no way can what happened be justified .
Our policing system is on its knees, Guards in these situations do their best, with very limited resources.
I totally understand the anger everyone has expressed.
The world we live in is a much changed place, unfortunately.

If true, its nothing to do with his religion, or immigration status and a serious failing of our courts and health service.

What will the mob say then?

Sure we just needed an excuse to riot and would have found another one

You know what we have to remember the crèche worker who more than likely saved saved the little girl by jumping in and taking a stabbing herself, she is the hero.

None of us know how we would truly react unless we were actually in the situation. I feel like rather than wanting to harm the attacker, I feel that if it were me instinct would kick in and I would throw myself on the child to protect her.

My brain just cannot fathom witnessing a man taking a knife to an innocent little 5 year old.

I also think about the paramedics who arrived on scene having to calmly deal with a 5 year old with knife wounds to her neck and the effect that could have on them.

One of my closest friends is a paramedic, I would describe him as a hardy fcuker, nothing phases him either in worker or in everyday life, but a few years ago he dealt with an incident where a 3 year old was killed by a tractor. I won’t go into the details he told me here but needless to say it affected him badly, he took to the drink for a while after.

I suppose my point is the culprit here did not just harm the women and children but so man others, everyone who witnessed it, particularly other children, the Brazilian national is rightly being hailed a hero but I think more should be said about the crèche worker who jumped in to protect the little girl x
