Nobody has to agree/disagree with pronouns… I find the whole thing a bit ridiculous… two genders.. pick one!!! But he could have simply called or referred to the child by name and that would be end of it… no compromise on his values and the child would have been happy too!!

Up until this whole debacle I had assumed the same thing but turns out that the term "gender" is different from biological sex. Apparently gender is a social construct which varies in different societys and refers to the norms and behaviours a society associates with being either either Male or female. Back in the 1950s a sexologist identified something like 10 different genders to show a distinction between biological sex and gender identity, so there was masculine, feminine, agender means a person dosnt associate with either gender and I'm completely lost after that.

Nowadays theres almost 100 different genders which I cant wrap my head around at all but live and let live, eh?

But if we take a step back, nobody is saying this should be taught to kids in school, and certainly nobody was asking Burke to teach it. He was part of a group of people who, as part of their responsibility to the teenagers in their care, were asked to refer to one of them in a certain way. They weren't demanded to agree with any issue, nor were they told they had to accept it.

He could have called the child by their name and just moved on (as a compassionate christian might). He could have brought a case arguing that such accommodations should not be allowed in schools (2 genders only argument) and made a real public debate of the matter on religious grounds. But instead he decided to abuse the principle inappropriately and was suspended - as any of us would be in our jobs.

He says he didn't abuse or intimidate anybody and brought the case challenging his suspension. However based on his and the family's actions at both the school hearing and in court do you believe him? And thats what all this nonsense is about now. Not transgenderism, or religious rights, or any other argument being raised, but the fact he acting like a prat and was fired. This person should not be in charge of a traffic cone never mind kids. They didn't even have the respect to listen to the judgement being given - the minimum courtesy expected when its you who brought the case there in the first place.

And as for the 'brilliant academic family', social skills were obviously not part of their education and the whole episode has rendered them unemployable - when the Westboro Baptist Church refuse to back you because you're toxic to their brand you should realise you've gone too far.

As I understand it a proposal to teach on it is being considered for children , a separate issue in a way as only v recently made public . As to the Family , BONKERS were at it in Galway university also. No time for them like zero

Didn't know that - but as you say, separate issue from what's going on here. You don't have much of a leg to stand on when you're abusing your boss, the school board, gardai, judges, and ignoring court orders (and being proud of it).

On one hand I ask myself what is he doing! But on the other hand I admire him, he's standing up for what he believes is right! Plus I think the law is being very hard on them, there is alot worse going on in the country than this!

How many pronouns are there now. Who decides what the pronouns are acceptable? Where do we draw the line?. If a child decided thier chosen pronoun was nothing do you think any teacher would be comfortable calling a child nothing?.

god forbid the kid was in Afghanistan he would be tortured and murdered, but that would be ok with you.
