Default Applying to be a Mod

...sooooo, the applications are in and they'll get back to us when they've decided who our new internet overlords are going to be.

Given the problems we routinely have with moderation on the boards, how could anyone seriously consider becoming a mod?

There's an old saying that leaders must be servants. The very fact that you've applied to be a mod probably ought to make you ineligible to be one.

Also, I hope we don't see regular posters who regularly yell at mods on the boards suddenly cropping up as the new mods. That will go down very poorly with me personally, and I imagine a few more posters too.

Please don't get this thread closed with sniping or arguing.

    I'm hoping to be selected.

I have nothing but respect for the moderators. I think I could help them out and do a good job for the forum.

I think you hit the nail on the head there. Having modded and selected mods before I used to find that the people who actively sought out that little bit of power were far more likely to be a swinging dick using their newfound authority and ban button rather than use diplomacy and reason to defuse a situation.

You could say the same about those wanting to become COPs.

I was asked to be a Mod here on E-I and never had to apply. I'm very proud of the fact that in my 2 year service I never banned a single profile. I did however infract folks a few times. But no bans.

One thing we have here is Mgrs to help the Mods. We have clear guidelines on what the rules are (where you can). There is a team of people working behind the scenes to help new mods, as we have done with PrettyWoman. Its always difficult switching from a poster to Mod, but Im sure whoever is chosen will be able to deal with this professionally If not i can bite them! ( joke by the way)

If you make that kind of comment when I'm a mod you'll be getting infracted.
