    Default Aisling Murphy Trial

I can’t help but follow it.

All I can think is “why, why, why,” what would drive a man with a family to do this?

God love the jurors selected for that, and everyone involved really, it’s just one of these cases the Nation will never forget.

Hope he gets real justice while he’s in there.

In this country life never really means life, but his own life will have passed him by when he does eventually get released.

I can only guess that someone who carries out a terrible attack like this has mental illness. It's impossible to understand otherwise. In relation to life imprisonment, it does actually mean life. Even if you get parole you can be returned to jail if you step out of line, and I believe you can never leave the country, you will never get a passport ever again.

No it dosnt, not in this country. I don’t think there has ever been a full life sentence served in this country.

    From google:

The average time a life-sentence prisoner spends in jail has increased in recent years and in 2020, it stood at 20 years.

There are a total of 362 prisoners currently serving life sentences in Irish jails – 352 men and 10 women.

Some 65 men have been behind bars for at least 20 years.

Eleven have been in jail for over 35 years, with four in prison for over 40 years.

The longest-serving prisoner is the rapist and murderer John Shaw.

The 74-year-old from England has been locked up since 1976 when he was arrested for the abduction, rape, torture and murder of two women in Ireland.

My point is that you are never truly free, you can be returned to prison at any time. That's the case for life.

The Parole Boards decide who gets parole and who doesn't. It's not up to the Judge or the prison, the parole board decides. Anybody can apply to join the Parole Board, it's advertised a lot. I would prefer if life imprisonment meant that you stay in prison until you die, but that's never going to happen in a modern western democracy.

England have it. Only recently that sick witch Lucy Letby got it, another recent one was also a young female, her name escapes me, she casually went around stabbing men to death.

If I remember correctly, it’s 25 for men and 18/20 for women b4 remission. They only the pleaded not guilty they don’t get the remission but may still get early release for good behaviour/compassion especially if terminally ill.

I can’t follow it!! I don’t even wanna know who the judge is!! I’m not in the right headspace atm coz that’s all I’ll be talking about 24/7.
