Thread: Hygiene and showers (lack of)

  1. Smile Hygiene and showers (lack of)

    Hi all,

Having worked overseas for years it was just normal and expected to take a shower both before and after a massage. Regularly in fact the masseuse would join you too and that definitely became one of my favourite parts.

So having come back to Ireland 6 months ago, I have found it both surprising and quite shocking to see the lack of showers available ( or rather even offered or expected by Masseuses on the scene here). Obviously there are exceptions but definitely a very high majority of punts I've experienced here, they just bring you in and expect to get straight down to business.

Is it just me that finds it weird or are your experiences been the same? What does it say about the Masseuses' and their own hygiene standards!? Whilst I am a bit more mature and reasonably well dressed/presented I doubt it's that or my glorious body odour that wants them to avoid me starting off clean and fresh! You know yourself after a day's work or hours driving around, I don't feel particularly clean and the lack of facilities offered has definitely as a result impacted on my enjoyment at times. You feel more self conscious indeed.

I've had extreme examples too, from no shower, to broken shower and no running water in the taps or loo, to arranging a soapy massage shower only for the girl to be horrified (after taking my money) for me to even suggest wanting to use her shower! .....and that was only 10 minutes after having the conversation on the phone with her about it! Her towels turned out to be teatowels too

I have posted this in massage because I'd like to think it's less of and issue amongst the escorts but I've examples from there too. Only recently I guy who was running over was literally coming out of the room as I arrived, the girl never went out to clean herself even, it played on my mind and It was a waste of an hour, I just couldn't wait to get out of the place.

Being cynical too, you would have thought masseuses' would encourage you to shower, in that way wasting a good 10 minutes where they wouldn't have to physically be giving you any service!

In my experience this is a long way from an Ireland only issue. I've had plenty of evidence of this in other countries. It seems to me it depends mainly on the circumstances - are they in cramped or shared accommodation etc . I've never been refused a shower where the facility was easily available.

Having said that, I think most people should be able to get through a reasonable period of time without being particularly smelly. I've too have been with many masseuses who did not offer a shower but seemed perfectly clean themselves. So I would be slow to read much into the personal hygiene of masseuses based on whether they offer me a shower or not.

Yes I've had girls tell me they feel disgusting with greasy hair cause guys insist on touching their hair with oily hands.
It's certainly something I think about also.
I always shower just before arriving .

Most do it that disgusting way to have you in and out. You get what you pay for. And masseuses know how to actually massage so I'm guessing you went to either none Thai salons or providers with 2 profiles (I know less than 10 who actually know how to massage) or you went to ones without good reviews/don't allow review if they're from this site. If you wanna know who to go to, ask in the massage threads with more than 100 pages.

I also have had some bad experiences. Some of the Asian places do not change the towel on the table between punters , and use a filthy cloth for cleaning off the oil. When you insist on a shower and it is either broken or obviously not being used it is a Major turn off

Yeah definitely one of the negatives about massage girls/shops, very rare to for there to be shower facilities (or at least for them to be available to clients). Besides the hygiene element, it's not much fun having to put clothes back on over oily skin, or having to drive home like that!

Why would you stay if you aren't offered a shower? I could not enjoy it unless the lady and myself were both freshly showered.

I have visited approx 30 masseuses through this site. All had decent reviews, all were very clean, and all offered showers.

    African place is falling apart.

The woman who owns it uses her own bedroom to do massages

Apparently their salon is under construction but I don't believe it

typo there....you meant demolition rather than construction

My post was meant as more reflective than anything, I think the common trend coming out is that the bar is pretty low here in Ireland when it comes to massage shops/salons. pretty sad really, but sure don't you hear people say rip off Ireland all the time.
