"Russia demands Irish taxpayers foot bill for repair to embassy gate, also seeks official apology"

Personally i'd pack the ambassadors back to russia and use the premises to house
    some Ukrainian families

I'll pay for the damage myself, if russia retreats from Ukraine immediately, and undoes all damage they have done.

Give "poor" Russians some time to pick out all the wires from inside of the walls and disassemble all the spying devices.

Putin had no problem supporting fighting in Syria for years..Russian families never knew where their soldiers were killed.

On this topic, anyone can pledge to accommodate a refugee, I've pledged a room. Red Cross caseworkers are really good, you can specify who is most suited to your home, I said a single male and pet friendly. They also ask loads of questions, public transport, type of home, the list goes on but I feel like the more questions that are asked the more comfortable I feel that they are doing a good job given the urgency.

They'll be coming to my home in a couple of weeks to vet the property.

Would say if you anyone is in a position to offer a room to do research and see if it's something you would like to do.

    My take on this nightmare

    1. Protests here need to remain peaceful otherwise the Russians get to play "Victim" card and will try to get protests banned

    2. Moldovia is v likely next given Odessa proximity and it already as a sleeper cell territory in their country

    3. European/Irish leaders need to prepare us to take some pain and start doing that communication now , its the least we can do

    4. If Putin tries to use Chlorine barrel bombs to deal with city resistance then NATO needs to declare war , we cannot allow this to be an accepted tactic and it needs to made clear to him now , no chemical warfare as in Syria

    5. We need to have a referendum on Neutrality here

    6. Our response to refugees has been excellent, I hope it is sustained

    7. The UK response to refugees is an utter contemplable shameful disgrace

I think the UK's response is their own business. They aren't forced to take thousands upon thousands of refugees especially after a major health pandemic. I find it crazy that suddenly this pandemic has left the stage just like that? I know vaccination rate is very low in the Ukraine so what are the Irish government on about? One minute you can't open your front door and the next we're opening the country to 100,000 refugees with all visa requirements waived. Something doesn't add up there. What does Tony think? In any case I think the pandemic was a load of horse shit so I'm not bothered about their low vaccination rate personally and if we take a bunch of these poor people in well then I wish them all the best...but I never want to be told I can't go here, there or wherever again.

Please do not conflate Pandemic with this war nor your on going resentment of the issues regarding the Pandemic . The UK response is not their own business , let me explain in case you are unclear, if they take v few the rest of Europe has to take many many more including Ireland
I suggest you try to put yourself in the shoes of Millions of Ukrainians and perhaps if this works better for you consider the threat this war poses to all of Europe . Covid we will manage as to your concerns about your civil liberties, in context of what is now developing !!!
