I think with the older generation its so deep rooted that they can't change, they know no better or other way, we see that in NI too, the mindsets of the next younger generation seems to be different and not as deep rooted and that is a good thing
IMO, this was involuntary manslaughter at best. Public outcry with the threats of another wave of riots and looting put pressure on the justice system and gave this cop no chance of a fair trial. What he did was wrong and the U S. have a huge problem in the white Vs black community in some states. His sentence is also a reflection of pleasing the crowd. We see a man here in Ireland receive his second manslaughter charge after killing again with a knife. Makes no sense.

There is no excuse - the video evidence is clear. If anything the trial gave opportunity to show how systemic the issue is - the police report that was filed was a work of fiction and evidence in itself of a cover up.
Involuntary manslaughter - not a chance. If he died following the actions taken to subdue him, there might be an argument for unintentional killing. 9 minutes. Lock him up and throw away the key.

"Two officers arrived and located the suspect, a male believed to be in his 40s, in his car. He was ordered to step from his car. After he got out, he physically resisted officers. Officers were able to get the suspect into handcuffs and noted he appeared to be suffering medical distress. Officers called for an ambulance. He was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center by ambulance where he died a short time later," the statement read.
It stressed that no weapons were used.
"At no time were weapons of any type used by anyone involved in this incident," the statement read.
