    Default Texting while Driving

It is now illegal to text while driving in the UK (I think that is extend to N. Ireland, but not 100% sure).

I have lost count of how many times I have had to ask clients to stop texting while they are travelling over to me. Yes I know you are excited and yes I know you have a hard on, but please, please, please... wait until you get to me to talk to me and in all honesty if you are already on your way over it is a bit late to be making requests on what I should be wearing.

Texting while driving is bloody selfish and dangerous. There are other people on the road too and pedestrians and they deserve better than to have someone bugger up their life because you want to text someone, when you should be concentrating on the road ahead of you.

    Stop it!

There you go. Glad I got that off my chest. From now on if anyone texts me while driving over for a booking I will be charging them an extra £10 for each text received and no I will not be replying, as that makes me as bad as you! (if you do it that is).

That's it. You can get back to drooling over porn now

As from last week in the UK, using a mobile phone whilst driving, whether it be texting, taking a call or using the phone for info, incurs an automatic 6 penalty points on your licence & £200 fine. The option of attending a driving awareness course has been revoked.

It was never legal, it used to be 3 penalty points & £100 fine.

67 innocent people lost their lives in the UK from 2012-2015 due to drivers using their mobiles whilst driving. Mobile phones are the biggest cause of road fatalities in the UK.

    Weirdly, legal in South.

In Northern Ireland, even touch your phone while you are on the public road with the engine running you can receive a fine (and penalty points).
If you are an employer, you can be prosecuted if you ask employees to make or receive calls while driving.
Worth knowing if you drive in the North.
Common sense anyway, quite a few accidents and deaths have been caused by using a phone at the wheel.

I assume that's an increase of penalty for using the phone while driving. x

Thanks. Knew it was illegal but wasn't sure of the penalties.

Double points & double fine. Drivers used to be given the option of attending a driving awareness course to avoid the penalty points, however this option is no longer available. 12 points & you lose your licence.

It was announced on the news & in newspapers. I'm sure if you do a search, you'll find the info on some media forum.

Sorry Zilch, I don't know. I usually watch BBC news, therefore I would not be so clued up on where & how the changes in escorting laws were announced in Ireland.
