Fair play to Cameron and the Conservatives...
there is something to be said for one party having an overall majority able to rule a country unfettered for years...

    Not a hope.
Probably lose some seats, labour will be severely cut back and Fianna Fail and Sinn Fein will hold their own or increase a bit , plus a lot of independents.
And a coalition of some sort will be cobbled together again.

It provides stability as long as it doesn't go too far as in Germany 1933.

Only 66% of people voted, which is very low in stats.

And now, it looks like Britain has to suffer another 5 years a least under the power of the feckin' tories.
    Not good news really.
However, I do hope for a referendum as I think the UK needs to leave the EU.
thats the problem here as well. They are all the same so dont vote is the attitude. The thing is someone must get in so the smallest cunt would be best in.

    Westside.

So the D day landings, the fight through France, Italy etc was very little not to mention as I already said the fight through the south pacific. The Russians also had machine guns behind their own forces in the fight out of Stalingrad. The Russians were more brutal in the fight out of Russia than the Germans were on the way in-and that was very brutal indeed. Also civilian casualties at the hands of the Russians was massive. Unfortunately as in all wars the victors never have war criminals.

After the fall of Poland, the Russians murdered maybe 20,000 Polish army officers large numbers of Baltic staters" and others were deported to die in Siberian labour camps, the Gulag system continued to the 1990s, Russian prisoners escaping the Germans , often found themselves under suspicion and imprisoned, the Russians had people behind the battle lines to shoot deserters and Stalin is probably responsible for as many deaths as Hitler.
None of which takes away from the Russians being instrumental in defeating Nazi Germany. The turning point was Stalingrad ,1942. The opening of the 2nd front in the West in 1944 helped sound the death knell for Germany , but the Germans broke themselves in Russia. The Eastern front was one set of murderous barbarians against another set.
