Funnily enough I am just watching angela scanlons close encounters with panti bliss, he is HIV+ and only has to take one pill a day and a clinic visit twice a year, so not too bad in that respect.
With anti-retrovirals, living with HIV is the same as any managable chronic disease. Living with a chronic disease doesn't mean you have to shoot yourself and nor does having HIV, but stigmatising attitudes certainly leads to it.
