I don't think leaving is the answer.its at an all time low buts its starting to get there, car business is starting to pick up slowly but surely.nothing will ever go back to the way it was but it will find a steady level.

To be honest the recession for me was when everyone was enjoying the boom, since the recession began thing have been great, but all through the boom years were so shit!
hang on there things will begin to pick up soon, i have a few business interests and in all of them we are predicting growth, the banks are the only thing holding us back, we created 30 jobs last year and will be the same again, but if we had the bank on our side it would be minimum 100 this year.
I really do see a upswing at the moment, it will take 6-9months to filter through, but by the end of 2011 everyone will see the difference, plus the is a huge american investment group that is in the process of buying 90% of namas residential properties, the properties all have to be upgraded to a B1 rating and furnished, they are going to be doing a very cheap rent 3 buy scheme, they will be releasing the first 15,000 properties on the scheme in may, some will be sold straight off and very cheaply, for example apartments in dublin city which would have been €700,000 will be released at €220-270,000, the scheme should create 1,000s of jobs in retail, construction and manufacturing.
that's just one example of things in the pipeline , i know of a lot more things that are to be announced which will improve things dramatically, so i wouldn't be leaving just yet, i think you've survived the worst of it.

Recession or not, always think about your reasons for leaving this country and what you want to achieve in your new one.
If you have no ties, and can afford to take a year out or so, why not take a chance.
If you do decide to leave, do so with the mindset of adopting and accepting your new country in it's entirety.
Do not go there thinking 'we wouldn't do that in ireland', but work hard in adopting your new country and home.
If it doesn't work out, don't worry, you can always return to Ireland.
Better this, than never leaving and regretting the decision in later years.
Whatever you do, it must be your decision, as it will only be you that will need the drive, ambition and desire to succeed.
Yup recession is hurting - with a significant cut to my salary and increased taxes. But I'm thankful to be in a job (long may that last!). I'm certainly not planning on leaving the country yet.
However, I've seen a lot of escorts leaving lately and i can't help wondering if its because business is down. If more girls leave - that would be the worst part of the recession for me! (The ladies really do keep my spirits up in these tough times).

I wouldnt blame anyone wanting to leave this country at the moment. It is so expensive in Ireland compared to anywere else for everyday goods or a night out. I was in Manchester recently with two friends and a round of drinks (3 Pints) £5.70. Your lucky to get one pint here for that.
