We need to focus on higher skilled jobs in this economy as we have a highly educated workforce and we need to make use if the investment we have put into education.
The vast majority of the Multinational companies are also here or will come here because of our low corporation tax rate and this will remain to be the case as long as we continue to provide a plentiful source of english speaking well educated workers.
The impact on our tax take if some of these multinationals were to leave would be catastrophic.
The argument made earlier about having Irish workers travel to European countries to work for less than the minimum wage is ridiculous. Who would do that with the level of social welfare that is available in this country? Nobody sane anyway.
The big problem we have at the moment is that the unions, particularly the public service unions are holding the country to ransom, refusing to take a pay cut like the private sector has done and believing that it is their God given right to be paid more than the private sector even though they are permanent and have massive pensions.
This, along with the cost of our health service is what is dragging the country down. Any other argument is ridiculous.
Being in the EU involves compromise, we have been given special treatment on the most important issues we raised, so it is right and proper that we continue to participate and vote yes.
Just look at the NO campaigners, all are part of the "lunatic fringe".
Use your head people.
