Scone? S-con? S-cone?
Dunno where or who or why or how the fuck I stumbled upon this but anyway... A map of how 'scone' is pronounced between the UK and Ireland was published on some social media platform thing (whatever social media is, this is as close to social media as I get I tells you!). Anyways, it's a battle between the pronunciation of scone as like 'cone', or 'gone'. Most of Ireland (excluding Northern Ireland) was primarily 'cone' while the majority of the UK was 'gone'.
Why gone though? Why not just use 'con'? Cone and con? Where the fuck you finding this g from like? Idiots! You never heard of the word con before??
S-cone
S-con
S-gone
WHY???
Anyways how do you pronounce it? I don't think I've ever actually heard anyone in Ireland ever pronounce it like s-con. Not even once. Always s-cone, myself included.
