    Let's be realistic here.

Polish people (and many eastern europeans) are stupid and can only make a living being pig-farmers or builders. Now I'm not saying they deserve a bad life because of that... but.... in the world economy (which is pushed by America and others, Ireland has little influence)... it's not the farmers and builders that get much money. It's usually only the people with either actual or made-up intelligence that gets the money.

We were making the money and we took Polish people and other europeans in. We gave them jobs. We allowed them to set up houses and families here and wipe out over 1/8 of the potential Irish race. If people grumbled about it they said we were being fucking racist. The Irish government of course only did it for the money. It was on the back of the Irish producer and innovator that had built up this country for years that we gave them this money.... through our grandfathers and great grandfathers and great great grandfathers all the way back who were either at professional work or actual smart farming.

Now the Poles are saying we were bad to them???

Are these people funny in the fucken head?

Okay I know Poles are a nice people, but why don't they say "NO BULGARIAN DIPSHITS" or "NO UKRANIANS"....?????

When's the last time you saw an ATM machine bugged by an Irish person?! When did Irish people carry out such acts as the Dnepropetrovsk Maniacs????

Some of these people would buy and sell you soon as look at you. If you go to Romania, people will sell you their children! There are children locked up in places that wouldn't be fit for chickens to stay in!!!! (I know there are some awesome Romanian people and escorts out there ).

I don't have anything against these nationalities, I just think it's retarded that's all. Granted it wasn't the Poles calling us racist it was our own fucken government and Sky News (and most people believed it the fools) for their own benefit.
That was already said a few days ago on this site, have you any NEW NEWS for us?

Default Poles are getting their own back!

Exactly, if you read the article carefully, it is easy to see just why a lot of polish construction workers might not have too much love for Ireland.

Some of our building contractors shortchanged their foreign staff, withheld holiday pay etc. and basically tried to pull the wool over their eyes and use them as a cheap pool of labour in order to enrich themselves even more. These are the very same cowboy builders who borrowed heavily from the banks, bought land and built houses and apartments in the semi-sticks and extorted rediculous prices out of first time buyers. Their annual ho-down took place once a year at the Galway races when then entered the great tent of the chief of the Fianna Fail tribe to smoke the peace pipe and exchange "gifts".

We all know that 1 million people at least left our shores during and immediately after the great famine. It's a pity our cowboy builders did'nt join them......they would have been right at home in the wild west and the auld sod would have been spared a lot of shite which is going to take decades to clean up.

Default What a crock of shit !

So a minority of Polish builders had negative experiences here, are back home now & finding humour in our predicament. So fuckin' what.
Before you go making these sweeping generalisations take a poll of Poles who've worked here & see if they like us or not. I like Polish people, the ones I have dealt with are honest, harder working than the average Irish person & good natured. The surly looks & difficulty smiling is a cultural thing, I think.
As if we are without faults ? I emigrated to the US when we were still a poor country & was blown away at what the Americans took for granted. Things as basic as everyone in a family over 16 owning a car, a TV in every room, several telephone lines into an average house. I used to think the Yanks were spoiled & didn't appreciate how lucky they were.
I continually reminded myself of this experience in recent years, the eastern Europeans & Africans must have privately had the same thoughts as I had all those years ago about the greedy, spoiled Irish.

Maybe the Polish builders have just cause not to want troublesome, lazy, greedy Irish workers on their sites. They saw them up close for a good few years here.

    Default Yeah youre right Nads

    We Americans are definitely spoiled.

I have lots of lovely things. But it doesnt fill up the void in me. The void of simplicity. Of going back to the basic elements. Id prefer to be in a cottage with maybe some trees and garden around me. I have the big flat screen tv and all the fancy stuff, but Im missing some meaningful things that money cant buy.

We're European, now. Born in the soon-to-be United States of Europe.

A lot of people are voicing their frustrations with the immigrant situation, but can you imagine what would happen should some hypothetical Justice Minister actually start the ball rolling on constructively dissmissing all foreign nationals under the guise of these recessionary times? Fuck, we'd be in every European court fighting legal challenges from every single civil liberties union from here to Gdansk.

The human race has currents. People flow to and fro all over the world like water. Ireland is no longer for the Irish - it's for everyone who can get a work permit. That's the bottom line.

Default I voted no in thed Nice treaty

I voted no to the Nice treaty

Hate to say I was right but I could see what shit bringing 10 cheap labour countries into the EU at the same time would cause.

JOB Losses for Ireland that's what.

At the time Bertie Ahern said that it was good for Ireland and would create jobs.
Most of the Sheep voted yes.

Initially it did create jobs for non Irish people building more and more apts for non Irish people to move into. But in the medium to long term it is Job Losses is the result.

No those apts lie empty and we are fucked financially.

I'm not knocking the Poles they are hard workers they came here got very good wages compared to back in Poland. Stayed 2, 3 or 4 years saved as much Euros as they could they can now go back to Poland and buy a house for €70,000 from their savings no Mortgage involved.

    Who is laughing at who.

Who is the gobshtes Paddy is.

I have to add I was disappointed when I friend of mine returned from Poland recently after emigrating there with his Polish girlfriend, apart from the hassle he got in the clubs and pubs when he went out with her from other Polish men, the first job he got was in a factory and the 70+ other staff downed tools in protest of the company hiring a foreign employee.. Not specifically targeting the Irish but very poor act none the less..
