Interesting piece here where NI Justice Minister doesn't seem to have much meas in the NI law and its effectiveness.

Also , apperars from this piece that the woman in question was being 'exploited' with no arrests for 'straightforward prostitution' .

my own understanding is that they raided a brothel and he happened to be in there. the new law thus gives them the power to arrest him. had he visited irish sarah or nicky or any of the independent ladies advertising, he wouldnt have been caught because they wont target independents.

My point is that in reality nothing will change. If you visit a brothel you have always run the risk of being arrested and questioned. If there is a prosecution then you will be summoned as a witness. In which case you will be publicly shamed. Now in Northern Ireland you run the additional risk of being fined. The shite about being put on a sex offenders register is that...shite.

Because of the risks I haven't visited a brothel in over ten years. Independent girls working alone tend to be the more upmarket type of girls but are definitely well worth the higher rates. Not just because of the much better service but also safe in the knowledge her place isn't going to be raided. It's that simple...the independent girls will thrive.

Everyone has known this since June though and this is the first arrest in 5 months. I don't think there is too much to worry about.

I'd love to know the specifics of the location. I'd be willing to bet it was a location known as a brothel by quite a few members of the usually unsuspecting public for quite some time.

Really though, you're going to have problems if you're caught during a brothel raid regardless of this law or not. Thankfully Brothel raids are rare, and are only really done if those at the location are making a nuisance of themselves no?

Well it'll apparently be illegal to offer, pay or promise to pay either money or any form of remuneration to anybody in exchange for what a "Reasonable Person" considers to be of a sexual nature. So the offer of a cooked turkey, sausages etc. would be "illegal". The bill is here to read yourself:

To be fair when you get the directions there's certain areas in belfast that you just no not to go to cause of the location and accommodation. Also there are other sites were girls advertise that you no straight away that there working in a brothel
