I recently saw a documentary on the subject., filmed in Thailand. Apparently there is a whole cottage industry built around the

notion of some lucky girls escaping poverty , and lonely foreigners ending up with a young, beautiful, obedient wife in this fashion..

It doesn't always work out like that. There are no background checks on the men, and there have been several cases where

wife no. 1 'disappeared' and the man came back for seconds and even thirds before anyone thought to question

whatever happened to his previous foreign wives..

The girls have all these misguided fantasies of a beautiful life overseas.. leaving behind sunshine, friends and family, one ended up on a

farm, miles away from anywhere. Herself and her old man husband in a dilapidated old house, mud, cold and rain almost everyday .

The brokerage industry makes a fortune, and the man ends up with a girl who doesn't speak the language, who has no friends in

the new land, and no means of supporting herself (other than the man) ..

    Doesn't sound Cinderella-ish to me..

[Surely there are some wonderful stories out there as well. If it is a kind man who is looking for companionship, sure it can work ?]

Well it would depend on which country the DHL package is being delivered to, in Holland it could arrive by bike messenger, in India by camel, elephant, donkey, or hand cart, and in Venice by boat. So if the contents contained a bride, oh dear. I would say the same would apply to FedEx, even the premium service.
