    Hi all,

Didn't watch the programme as I had other things to do, will hopefully be able to watch it tomorrow night.

Has anyone considered the hiring of a female solicitor to act as an official voice for all you independent ladies?
It's no use complaining here after a show like that is aired. The community must be more proactive.

What about getting a piece published on www.thejournal.ie, Ruhama have had their say there so why can't an independent lady do a piece for it also?

Senator David Norris said that he was in favour of legalising it and even though I know that his reputation is somewhat tarnished I still think it wouldn't do any harm to speak to him about it.

I posted links here to a thread on the Boards.ie website I happened to come across but did anyone here get involved in that discussion? I loooked at it awhile back and saw posts from Stella Marr and other posts from someone I believe to be an agent for Ruhama spouting the usual nonsense.

In the Sarah Benson\ Eileen Lang interview on Tom Dunne's show Benson acknowledged the existence of independent escorts, but she said the number was small, you have to prove her wrong publicly on that point.

    That's all for now. Goodnight.

    The Human Dildo.

Well what another load of tosh!!!!! It's funny, I expected it to be tosh and then am pissed off to find out that it is!! My bad for hoping that someday unbiased journalism may become a reality!!!

While the RTE Primetime documentary was one sided, at least they acutally did some investigation - and did expose a seedier side to the business. Even though as mentioned, that was all they showed (on purpose). This Paul Connolly TV3 documentary was just a load of garbage!!

He asked the two "Irish" independants if they were happy with ther jobs, and then blantantly chose to disbelieve them.

Also they openly displayed escorts profiles and escort names, along with apartment blocks!! Clearly that is endangering the escorts - not that he would care. Why let the truth get in the way of salacious gossip (or a good story as journalists call it!)

I have no problem with them using actors (even though it takes away from the authenticity), as if they used the real voices of the people interviewed - someone might recognize them even with their faces hidden. But where the heck did he find that pimp and that client (the one who said if he wasn't seeing escorts, he'd be raping every woman in sight!!)

Unfortunately, people will choose what to believe. And i suspect a lot of people will believe this biased one sided rubbish. Not sure if you picked up on the Ruhamma plug in the last interview where 'Mary' says she was rescued by them.

The most worrying thing for me though was the inteview with Justice Minister Alan Shatter. He has shown his hand - he is clearly in favour of the Swedish model.

By all means - tackle the pimps, the traffickers, the coercion of women, etc... but let girls who want to work as independant escorts be. And let girls work in pairs at least for their own safety. Unfortunately I think that is a bit too much to ask of our government!!!!

P.S. Well said Saoirse. As in everything you've said on this thread. I love it when you go on a rant!!

And thanks for the comments from the other ladies who clearly demonstrate that it isn't all like in the Paul Connolly alternative reality!!

When he phoned the girl in D4, he rang her from a landline & then rang from his mobile when he was outside the appartment. I didn't think any girl would answer a landline number.
