There are a small number of Mondays during the year that are national holidays from work. Because banks don't open they are called bank holidays. Most people do not work on these days.

Not entirely true, there are 9 Bank Holidays in a year which is exactly what it means, the banks are closed on those days. We have 8 Public Holidays where everyone is entitled to have the day off or compensated in some way if they have to work it. These 8 days are all on the same days as the Bank Holidays except Good Friday.

I will do the decent thing and pay the ultimate price for making such a gross error, which has brought shame on me, my family, nay, the Irish nation.

Thanks for posting the wrong date, when I was looking it up I read something I didn't know, when a Public Holiday falls on a weekend you are NOT entitiled to the next working day off, I always assumed when a Public holiday was on the weekend you were automatically entitled to the next Monday off instead but you're not, you are only entitled to a day off within 1 month of the public Holiday and no compensation for working the Monday..
