Slagging matches are the backbone of any decent forum.

I haven't read the thread about JR cos I thought it was another mutual arselicking session...

However, I have said on a few occasions that on a forum like this, that community mods just will not work in the medium or long term. I believe that Pat should invest a little more money in having a staff mod/manager on duty all the time as I believe that it would pay big dividends in the medium to long term. The thing that makes this site successful is the interaction from posters and punters and I am goggle eyed reading posts about people being pissed off and leaving as a result of friction between them and community mods. The ONLY alternative in my view is for community mods NOT to post....

I have said on all of my comments that there is a tipping point after which it would be too late to try to rescue the situation, and if that were to happen, the ad revenue WILL plummet.

I know that there is almost no chance of my view being given serious consideration, but, remember who said it first when it happens...

    So you're advocating censorship?

Internet conversations, just like real-life conversations, meander back and forth. They start on topic and end up who knows where. Sometimes they might even find their way back on topic again. Those are the mechanics of conversation, start deleting posts and you might as well just make every thread a set of check-boxes.
    Anything's a dildo if you're brave enough.

But, Sir PT, that would be how a real forum works, lest we forget. Westie has gone crying to management, don't worry. At least he is not management anymore. Ha ha fecking ha.

I've said the exact same more times than I can remember, even before the mods were spawned.
It's exactly why the other site died and this place is in serious danger of going the same way.

That thread was not a slagging match from my end. The owner of the site said the matter that they brought up was at an end weeks ago. What they brought up had nothing to do with the threads content and o handt even posted on it. Bringing it up was done for no other reason than to cause me bother. I put alot onto modding on this site and gave that back for the sake of the peace here even though i didnt want to and that should be an end to it.

Com mods will work and have worked. They do lots behind the scenes. You are just anti mod from the start as we saw weeks ago with the thread that you had an issue with.

Ad revenue will always be fine on this site. Funny you mention ppl leaving because of friction between them and com mods despite that hardly anyone did and even then they left becasue they wanted to.

At the end of the day mods are posters.
We are not employed by E-I we do volunteer work so we still reserve the right to post.
Now back on topic, if a thread goes off topic we move it to teh soap opera, this has been the case for a while now
