I just clicked on the link directly and watched it.
I've heard of these kinds of stings going on in the U.S. before, and I'm really not sure how the police can get away with doing this kind of thing legally, as it strikes me as being obvious entrapment. Trying to cut back on prostituion is one thing, but taking out fake adds and busting the lads that show up for a punt is just over the top in my eyes. As I said I can't imagine how this is legal, but it appears that it is over there.
Surely there must be a lot more serious crimes that require a lot more attention and resources than this, and I can't imagine the money they waste busting people for this. The news reporter says at the end of the clip that they're giving out 250 dollar fines for each guy busted; the police are probably spending 5 times that for each individual bust. that's money that could be busting drug dealers or murderers or rapists. Oh well, the U.S. is hardly a paragon for well-placed social responsibilities and priorities, so what else can you expect from them?
