Having said that : Brown Thomas has no problem accepting large bills or cash in general .

: went in there to browse before buying the one next door : told the very nice and helpful lady

my adventures of the previous day - she was aghast .

And Yea , damn well we should be able to spend as we see fit !
So you’re saying these smaller businesses are required by law to report cash payment of €1k or more and it’s not an internal business policy. But bigger business like Brown Thomas can accept these large bills.

I think everyone here is on the same page as to de-stigmatising this industry. That’s a full Thread on its own.

That's unbelievable. How can the Bank not detect such suspicious behaviour and freeze the card. That's why I like revolut. Every time the card is used I get a notification straight away. You also can't spend more than what what's in the account. My main bank that my wages goes into gives me an automatic over draft which I don't like. Bad enough if someone emptied the account but to able to take more out that what I have is crazy.

I had my online banking request that I confirm a €15 payment. I had just got new phone and had downloaded the online banking app but not set-up yet, So couldn’t confirm it. The person just let me in free, told me “Try not get hurt”.
    Confirm a €15 payment? Ridiculous 🤬

I am relating my personal experience as it transpired .

I questioned the shop owner as to Why they’d want my personal info .

He said he’s required by police to collect that data .

I don’t know if it pertains only to luxury items : went across the street , bought a pair of boots for 200 ,

paid with 2 hundred € notes , no probs .

BT - large corporation with high-flying international clientele : could hardly ask Them to provide details ??
I do what I want. I cannot do otherwise.
