    Default Price Gouging

So a report has found that Irish supermarkets have not been price gouging during a cost of living crisis.

So that's that then. Despite paying higher prices than the rest of the E.U. (most of?) in supermarkets we have had it explained to us. Ok so .

Let's continue to worry about everyone else .

I mean after all Simon Coveney even wrote them a letter and the consumer watchdog says there's nothing to see here .

Our grocery prices are 19% above EU average but so are our wages... so that's fine, apparently - we're just paying the Paddy premium!

I'm just talking about this recent bullshit report on Irish supermarkets.

Yes I'm aware the whole country is a fucking joke.

Our wages are not that high compared to a lot of EU countries, it's only certian sectors that have wages that are miles ahead of EU averages.

I will keep saying it. Any excuse in this country to charge as much as possible for everything we buy/do is the default approach. Politicians don't give two hoots with their €205,000 plus expenses. They will never experience what the ordinary person does because they're not in touch with reality. It's a complete joke

I was doing a bit of travelling around Scandinavia recently...now it's fucking expensive up there, but I know the people are very happy.

High wages, super efficient health system...yes a foreigner will find beer, food etc. expensive, but their government have it sussed.

We're fucked with our shower . We just accept the bullshit.

Our minimum wage is above average also.

Now, I'm not saying it is enough to live on and I wouldn't want to be on it myself, but it's the truth.

Yes. A high proportion of the population are only paid the minimum wage or slightly above. Also many of these employees do not get a full 40 hour week, in as their employers maintain extra staff to cover for holidays, sick days and busy times.
