I think what Noregrets is saying is that the same energy and resources should be put into trying to save others that die every day.

Where did they defund the police?
From what I can see, and I'm open to correction, there has been little to no defunding of police.
You mention Chicago, police spending there is up 15% since 2019.
In LA from 2019 to 2022 the police budget increased by 8%.

That is BLM defund the police and the politicians who rode that wave .
This has now reversed and right wing politicians are riding the wave of falsely claiming that the police have been defunded due to the left and the BLM defund the police movement.
It's come full circle, it's mental really

You seem to have misunderstood me, I wasn't laughing at anyones plight. I was laughing at the absurdity of both sides of the political divide using the same defund the police narrative and twisting it to push their own agenda.
I haven't watched the video yet but I hope to later today. I'll watch it but I'm not sure California Insider is a reliable source.

You say you were in America and saw for yourself what is happening.
Of course I believe you when you say this and anecdotal evidence is important but I don't think we should just dismiss the statistics.
