14 years ago we had the Lehman crash.
Prices for nearly everything tumbled in the immediate aftermath.Then we had years of austerity.
I’m not an economist but I feel the market will decide prices. It usually does.
For some unknown reason I’m more optimistic now than in 2008

Exactly right.
If a provider has raised prices and it affects bookings the price will change. It is really our choice as punters if we wish to accept higher prices.

I think I’d rather quite than drop to 30 minutes…. Might have to drop from 2 hours to 1.5 tho… 5 hours round trip burns far bit of diesel !!!

I remember 13-14 years ago the standard 30-minute price was higher than it is now in Dublin. Considering inflation and the massive cost of renting space I think we are very lucky to get what we do for so low. Punting in London is SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive!

That depends, there's a greater range of prices in London than here. But on average, I found at least, that the standard going is only marginally more expensive, mainly due to the exchange rate.

Along with that, there's more deals and variety available than in Dub if you do some due dilligance, so value for money can usually be a decent bit better I imagine. And again, the avaibale options at the higher rate bracket are vastly superior to Dublin.

I usually prefer the higher rate bracket though so I mught be a bit out of touch about seeing London providers who advertise at a lower rates. Correct me if I am!

I agree morally, but I guess some people are just feeling bad about the possibility of stopping or reducing doing somthing they enjoy.

For me punting is a necessity, not a luxury, even though it's one of my lifes greatest luxuries. Because it's somthing I value so much I don't mind rates going up, in a lot of cases it's more than warranted. But I do understand that there could be other fellas who might feel diffrently or might have diffrent priorities and might be feeling the thorn of inflation a bit more.

10 years ago during the last recession rates were lower than now.
80 quid for the half hour with owo. It was even easy back then to ring around after a night in the pub for a quick fuck for 50quid. I guess that's why they called it the Great Recession, it was great!
