Post What makes a good moderator?

    Hi everyone!

I'm afraid to open this thread because I know you... but well, I think that sometimes criticising is easier than giving new ideas.
So the question is simple, for you, what should the perfect moderator be like?
I think to answer this question, we must first be clear that we have rules that are not going to change, but other than that... what do you expect from us?

Perhaps, someone who is either an escort or a customer of escorts?

Rules are great as long as you know when to bend or even break them.
    And get your tits out.
To anyone that doesn't like me here.
I hope you need to pee 3 times tonight, but that you only wake up twice.

This is not very useful... both would have an interest.
My question is more about what would be the ideal moderator for you?

    I'm with Steve.
It would be good to have someone with an interest, that understands this hobby. M
Hard for someone without experience to not be judgemental.

So, one characteristic she/he must have is that it does not judge you, right? Do you think we do?

I understand what you mean. I knew when I posted the reply it was not a specific answer to the question.
But, being a moderator is often more an art than a science and it is hard to formulate a list of necessary skills. You need to look for a the right person, not appoint a person and then try to give them the necessary skills.

One specific thing that helps in any enterprise is having enough people doing the job and those people in a position to focus on that particular job.
The impression here is that there is not enough mods and they are doing more than modding. I may be wrong of course!

Do you think more moderation is needed?

I have seen in recent years on Youtube, Facebook, the Internet in general and indeed in real life, those who merely state an alternative view to the orthodoxy are met with an intolerant aim to silence them.

All that is wrong in society cannot be addressed by silencing. It is addressed by opinions being stated, argued and dealt with through discussion. Shutting down free speech does not serve to educate, does not encourage thought and does not further society.

I cannot in good conscience support authoritarian control from those who confuse fact with opinion, and react to free thought and expression with intolerance. I do not wish to be part of a discussion where I cannot share my differing opinion. I cannot be part of a discussion when my views are removed.

We learn little from those who agree with us, and this forum will have little to talk about if we all share the same view and suppress those who dare differ.

Therefore a good moderator is one who uses censorship when the post is not age appropriate, is disclosing personal information or a post is defamatory.
A good moderator should be silent to a post which cannot in any reasonable understanding be considered to not be personally insulting and where the target audience is capable of rebuke.

Escort Ireland could take note, as I no longer post here due to moderator intolerance confusing opinion with fact.
