Major incident on lap one. Romain Grosjean's car torn in two by a barrier. Good news he is OK. Impossible to say how he survived. The car was engulfed in flames, he has burns to his legs and face. Horrific crash.

Horrific and strange. How can a car go through a barrier and get torn in two and catch fire? Major failure of the barrier. Luck, and the design and strength of the car (especially the halo) alone prevented Romain Grosjean being killed.
Red flag and race will be delayed by about an hour.

Lance Stroll upside down. Radio message, "I am OK, but am up-side down". Sounds funny. Safety car.

Lap nine with no real racing yet. Valtteri Bottas ran over some debris and that is how he got his puncture.
Car recovered, safety car in.

Max Verstappen got a good restart and was challenging Lewis Hamilton but has no answer to Mercedes speed and power.
