Actually I’m kind of hoping that I made someone’s day now. In these days of constant doom and gloom. 500 might make a difference to someone.

I believe there is CCTV at all ATMs. Whether bank will help I do not know.

I did this at a petrol station on the way to visit my all time favourite. Seen her at least 50 times over the years, consider her a friend. Anyway discovered what happened with her and knew either it was put behind counter or gone. I was keen for the ride and would get money after but she wouldn't let me. Still feel a bit sore about this, like after all these years (and she knows my identity)I wasn't going to return.

A good while ago ATMs had those cash dispensing drawers that would open when the money was dispensed. (I don't know if those style ATMS even exist anymore. Probably not.)
Early one Saturday morning I was making a small withdrawal and the drawer didn't open. I tapped the drawer and it was loose. The hinge or spring must have broken. There was also a couple of hundred pounds extra in the drawer than I had withdrawn. Being a student at the time (and flat broke) I'd probably only been taking out a twenty.

I couldn't return it to the Bank as it was closed and I couldn't return it on the Monday as I was just in Dublin for the day. I couldn't return it to anyone as I hadn't seen anyone use the ATM before me. If I left it in the drawer the next person would just take it so I figured it was just my turn to be lucky.

I’m totally distracted and not in a good head space at the moment.

I took a few hundred out of an ATM today, only to walk away without the money ! Only realised when I got home and went to put it in a birthday card !

So I either made someone’s day, and if so best of luck to them.

Question for the op, did you check with the bank to see if they can look at the cctv or have you any updates.

if someone takes your money, its impossible to get them now with gloves mask and hat, its near impossible to identify them,
