I thought the same but couldn't bring myself to post it.
Why even join the british army if living here?
Bet the guy was turned down by the Irish army and the Gardai as unfit to serve.
My wife caught me wearing ladies underwear and threatened to leave me.
So I packed up all her clothes
    And left.

Why join the boring Irish Army and piss about boring Irish Army Barracks in cold wet Ireland. The best you can hope for is some boring peace-keeping duties somewhere equally boring.
You can join a NATO army instead. Much more interesting. You get better pay, frequent postings abroad. You go to exotic places.

You meet interesting people who you get to kill.

Ultimately it is not up to any employer to hold their employee to account, but it is up to the criminal justice system. Ireland's system has failed here, as it often does.
