The British economy will suffer but it is large and basically strong and can withstand a lot of shocks. The ROI economy is not and, as you say, will suffer more. And the ROI cannot dictate to the British how they run their country. The British will do what they do, and at the present their leadership seems as incompetent as the DUP's.

The DUP's problem is that they are just basically incompetent. A problem that a lot of politicians suffer from.
Exactly what sort of lunatic would leave an arrangement where both sides get what they want and nobody loses, ok one side might not be too fond of the other but just get over it and learn the art if compromise, things can improve over time, nothing stays the same, not even the bad stuff, I suppose some are just too pig headed to back down and just continue to the cliff edge regardless of the cost

As much as I would prefer the UK remaining in the EU & a second Brexit vote endorsing that I think that at this stage everyone is fed up with the whole thing and just want this vote to go through (although it probably won't). And it would be great to see Arlene and co taken off their high horse.

Obviously there will be no smuggling along the border here !
    Are we there yet ?

The vote did not take place at all.

Sir Oliver Letwin, succeeded in getting a motion passed that means Boris Johnson's Brexit deal effectively cannot be approved until legislation implementing it has been passed. A delaying tactic, and it probably means asking Europe for ANOTHER delay.

The main vote was then dropped, presumably because it would be irrelevant, and possibly since it probably would not have got enough votes anyhow. A lot of hidden chess moves and people trying to achieve things without having to take overt responsibility for them.

I read a newspaper article about what happened, 3 times, and I still don't understand it.

I don't think anyone, including the experts, understands it now.
Basically, BoJo appears to be only interested on holding on to his job and is shafting everyone in the process, and neglecting the running of the country. Military takeover anyone?
