An increase in advertising isn't evidence of an increase in business.
Advertising thrives in a recession as advertisers fight for a share of a shrinking market.

One of the reasons suggested is the increase in publicity has encouraged some people to visit escorts who would not have visited otherwise. All publicity is good publicity, it seems.
