Then people will say it was her own fault "out at that time of night on her own dressed like that". Bullshit and if any girl I like or love is ever attacked ill kill him. And I'd enjoy it too
    No. It's not her fault.
Society is at fault. We need to lock up rapists until there is no risk of them ever re offending. Even that does not eliminate the risk completely because she could still become victim to a first time offender.

Most women have more than one thing they do on a daily basis to be careful. Still assault happens.

The underwear was only able to be used in the trial in the first place because it was evidence for the prosecution, because she was sexually assaulted.

I never normally know what kind of underwear a person has on until they are undressing in front of me.

Could you say that underwear is a factor in child sexual assault or old age sexual assault?

Sexual Assault is not about desire, it is about power control.
You say that "It is not possible for the individual to prevent being assaulted". It is sometimes possible to avoid being the victim, unfortunately this often means that someone else becomes the victim.

People like you with your mindset are the reason so many rapes go unreported. It's people like you make rape victims feel helpless and dirty. Because they know they will be judged by people like you.
Do you have some sort of cognitive impediment? Perhaps you could read back on my comments on this thread and explain to yourself how you came up with that.

Are we really in a place, still, where what a woman wears can act as an indicator as to her offering consent? Frightening
Very frightening and just wrong on every level.
A woman can withdraw consent at any stage and a real man would respect her choice and stop.
Rape has nothing to do with sex in the first place....it is about control, force and just a sickening violation of another human being both mentally and physically.

Your original comment was taken completely out of context and I agree 100% with it. There are women usually younger ones who dress in a way that's asking for trouble or at least being persecuted while on a night out.

Sickening really. Imagine having the underwear you wear paraded before you in the work place. The person who did would be fired on the spot. Yet it is ok in a court of law. The humiliation really.

Reading there today on the independent that a girl in Scotland commit suicide because of the humiliation of having her underwear shown around in court.

Thank you. But I think you will run foul of the brigade with the phrase "asking for trouble". I will agree that these ladies are the target of a lot of unwanted attention.

Always hated that "well of course she was attacked!,have u seen the way she dresses!" mentality
to me,it harkins back to a time i despise, where freedoms were minimal

And yeah,i know some will say "we don't encourage that way of thinking but we live in the real world"
i think thats a cop out and part of the problem

that means they have accepted it as the established norm but the established norm is what we as a society make it
it won't change until we think differently and refuse to give even a sliver of acceptance towards the reasoning of an attacker
or make ovetures to apologies for their behaviour

there is no excuse for rape and the complete fault lies with the attacker alone,no one else or any item of clothing
