On good authority that there's a good bit to go in terms of passing the law yet -

inevitable that the law will eventually pass - prob wont be enacted until 2017 but it certainly will be passed .

Law was inevitable once Frances Fitzgerald got the job .

At least ,when the eventually comes into being ,it then is largely taken out of the hands of deferential politicians and will be dealt with in the courts - one would imagine that the game would be up for TORL in that venue.

Why do you think this? I'm not arguing, just not sure why there should be a big difference. We all know it would not be very hard to catch people anywhere in Ireland if they made a serious effort. Do you think the politicians in Dublin will push harder for arrests? Would they not press for trafficking arrests as the top priority?

    No evidence

They can find plenty of evidence if they are prepared to dig a little. Say they take any phones that are present find that the girls number is the same as one advertising on an escort website and the call logs show your phone rang this number say twice before you were confronted by the guards. This may or may not be enough to get a convection but be sure you would be shitting yourself. I will have to think long and hard about visiting and escorts after this law is passed.

If there is another list in circulation and they bust or raid a property with it in it some peeps could be left in the shit.
    Lets hope there isnt.
Don't see why escorts would need one when the have ugly mugs ie already in place.

The Pigz down South will try their damndest to enforce this as they know The Minister for everyone elses interior is gagging for it!
I don't think traficking matters will be the focus of their attention as that is already a serious crime and we never hear of anything being done about it which also may indicate it really only exists in the minds of TV /Film scriptwriters and a few TORLERs bigging it up to make money out of it!

Think about it, it's ideal for The Southern Pigz -

1 They get to engratiate themselves with the Minister.
2 All they have to do is look up a few sites, get the escort addresses and sit on their fat arses in squad cars outside those apartments, waiting for punters to come out, who will be very cooperative to avoid publicity.
3 They also have total discretion - they will leave the great and the good alone, their own alone and target working class punters, simple as!
4 Even though the intent of this law is primarily to make sex workers suffer, the Pigz may take the view that they will leave the escorts alone (AFAIK, there is a proposed 6 month prison sentence possible for a sexworker under a first offence with this insanity!) and just concentrate on pulling their punters outside their apartments, so effectively the state becomes the biggest pimp of all!

    Grim reading in this thread.

Ive respect for the Gardai, you cant expect them to ignore the law once passed.

Just bewilders me why they ( Government ) dont go after the ppl they really want who are not legit.

In my opinion, ireland is still under church rule, the hypocrisy considering the shit that they got up to over the yrs !! No real justice there !!!!

Id say escorts can expect a huge turn down in visitors once it passes. ( not being negative on purpose ).

The PSNI have took a lazy approach to the law in NI so far for obvious reasons but were still in constant contact with the Guards in the south on the matter( brexit fucked things up somewhat) but when this becomes law you will see a big difference from the PSNI then
